It’s another late(ish) edition of WWS – the weather has been glorious in the UK, therefore I’ve spent a fair bit of it outside, enjoying cars. Finding a car for this week’s WWS was very easy as one of the first cars I looked was able to fit the bill rather nicely.
A Rare Breed
The Lamborghini Gallardo is not exactly a new product, nor is it at a stage where it’s classic enough to be a true collectible. However, this one is rather rare, plus it’s featured on Top Gear (Clarkson, Hammond and May era) so it’s got a nice little backstory. Oh, why is this car rare? Well…this car has been signed by the Lamborghini legend himself, Mr Valentino Balboni – former test driver for the brand.
If that wasn’t enough, it’s also one of just three manual cars and the only one of those to be finished in Grigio Grey. The grey is of course complimented by that legendary Balboni strip running through the middle of the car. As the model name suggests, it offers 550bhp, which is fed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox of course. The 5.2 litre unit will propel this rare bull to 60mph in 4.2 seconds before it sprints to a top speed of 198mph.
Throughout the car’s seven year life it’s gone through three lucky owners, but covered just 9,956 miles. It of course comes with full service history, which has been carried out by both Lamborghini London and Lamborghini Pangbourne. The price? well that’s on application I’m afraid, but you can pretty much guarantee it will be six figures.
