Earlier this week, German brand Mercedes-Benz announced prices for the new CLS Coupe. Today, the brand has announced prices for its new S-Class Cabriolet, which is available to order now with deliveries expected spring next year. Available with a choice of two V8 engines as well as a juicy V12.
What power does it offer?
Mercedes describes the S-Class Cabriolet as the epitome of luxury motoring, which comes as little surprise, as the saloon has always been regarded as one of the most advanced models on the market. Where the saloon fails though, is to give the chance for its occupants to get the wind in their hair. This is of course where Cabriolet comes in. Priced from £115,910, there will be three models available – S560 AMG Line, AMG S63 and AMG S65.
The S560 AMG Line acts as the base model and it replaces the previous S500 offered in the last generation, much like the S-Class Coupe. The S560 AMG Line is fitted with a new 4.0 litre biturbo V8 petrol, which produces 463bhp with 700Nm of torque, which is fed through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll hit 62mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed that is limited to 155mph – naturally.
The AMG S63 is priced from £140,910, and is powered by AMG’s hand-built 4.0 litre twin-turbo petrol engine, which offers 604bhp with a whopping 900Nm of torque. Power is fed to the rear wheels via the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G-Tronic nine-speed gearbox, meaning 62mph is dealt with in 4.1 seconds. As with the S 650, the top speed is limited to 155mph, but this can be raised to 186mph if you choose to select the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
That leaves the AMG S65, which is fitted with a 6.0 litre V12 petrol engine, which is also built by hand. This is also mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT 9G-Tronic nine-speed gearbox, and is able to help the car hit 62mph in 4.1 seconds. This is thanks to a power output of 621bhp with a world-stopping 1000Nm of torque. Like the other models, the top speed is limited to 155mph, but like the AMG S63, this can be increased to 186mph if you tick the relevant options box.
That may be optional, but what is standard?
The S560 AMG Line comes with features such as aircap, airscarf, wireless phone charging, air suspension, Comand Online, including 12.3-inch dual-bonded widescreen cockpit and infotainment display, keyless entry, 19″ wheels and a Burmeister sound system to name a few.
The S63 adds to this with features such as Seat Comfort Package, Driving Assistant Package, AMG sports exhaust, AMG sports suspension, AMG sports seats finished in Nappa leather; AMG Panamericana grille; and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The S65 includes features including all-new Energizing Comfort package; Warmth Comfort package; Night View Assist Plus; Air Balance package; 360° camera; head-up display; Burmester high-end surround sound system; and Intelligent Light System with Swarovski crystals – yes, you read that right.
The new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet is available to order now, with prices starting from £115,910.
