Jaguar has today announced it has added a new 2.0 litre petrol engine to its range, and will be fitted to the XE, XF and the F-Pace. No matter which model you choose to slot it in to though, you can order it right now. The question is though, how powerful is it?
Power
As you would have seen in the headline, it produces 300PS, but if like me, you prefer BHP, let me give you that as well. You’re looking at 296bhp, with a generous 400Nm of torque. It’s able to get the F-Pace to 62mph in 6.0 seconds, whilst it’s able to offer up to 41.5mpg when fitted with the XE saloon. The XE also offers the lowest amount of the CO2 out of the three with a figure of 157g/km, so obviously it’s not the greenest engine but who cares, it’s a Jaaaaaaaag.
If you slot this unit in to the XF, you’ll be able to crack 62mph in a very respectable 5.6 seconds whereas it will propel the XE to the same speed in just 5.5 seconds. The power will be mounted to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, which Jaguar states will offer a smooth and seamless change.
“We continue to broaden the range of our Ingenium engine family, giving customers more choice than ever before. Our new 300PS petrol engine provides the performance synonymous with Jaguar, while delivering enhanced fuel economy thanks to its state-of-the-art exhaust technology and pioneering valve train design. This clean and more efficient engine perfectly complements the advanced lightweight aluminium body structure of our XE, XF and F-PACE models.” – Nick Rogers, Executive Director, Product Engineering
