Now I’ll admit, I’m really a fan of the pickup truck. It’s fine for the Americans of course, but in the UK, it just feels a bit…ostentatious. No matter though, as those looking to buy the behemoth that is the Ford F-150 Raptor – cool name.
Driving On The Right Side
Don’t think you’ll be forced to drive on the left side of the ‘ve-hi-cle’ as Clive Sutton is able to convert the car to right-hand drive, although that is rather pricey – £36,000 to be exact. So you may be inclined to keep the steering wheel on the left, although there in one option you may want to consider. It’s not cheap either, but it’s likely to be more desirable.
For £10,800 you’ll be able to get the supercharger option, which gives the twin-turbo 3.5 litre V6 a total of 590bhp. Mind you, the standard amount of power isn’t exactly sluggish. 444bhp and 690Nm of torque is on offer from the V6, which is mated to an automatic with no less than 10 speeds. Blimey, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
As well as beefy suspension, the F-150 Raptor also comes with Fox Racing shock absorbers, so it should be able to take on anything you throw at it, even though it will spend most of its time peacocking in suburbia. Just in case you’re not quite noticeable enough, you can opt for an active sports exhaust which will cost you £3,200.
If you fancy buying this big slice of American Pie, you’ll need £78,000 for the privilege. This is a lot of money, but you’ll be getting a lot of pickup for your money.
