Evening all, apologies for the lack of articles recently, I’ve been busy sorting out a replacement car – long story. Anyway, on to business, the new Mercedes AMG GTS Roadster. This week, the German brand announced that this very model is now available to buy, with prices starting from £126,730.
What will I get for my hard-earned cash?
Power. A lot of it. Thanks to a thunderous, handbuilt 4.0 litre V8 biturbo petrol engine, this German droptop is able to offer 515bhp – 45 more than the GT Roadster in case you’re wondering – with 670Nm of torque. 0-62 is dealt with in just 3.8 seconds and it will continue to a top speed of 192mph. This power is fed to the rear wheels – naturally – via a 7-speed AMG Speedshift DCT gearbox. Not only will it blow much wind in to your hair, it will please your ears as it comes standard with an AMG Performance exhaust system.
What else does it have?
As well as a healthy amount of power, the GTS Roadster offers standard features such as Airscarf, 19″ alloy wheels, (20″ at the rear); Nappa leather upholstery; Active Air Control system; AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping; LED high performance headlights; Comand Online; and an electrically extending rear spoiler. The tripe-layer fabric roof is available in three standard colours; black, beige and red.
In case, you’re looking a bit more, there are of course some options – I mean, it’s German car, right? For £3,195 extra you can enjoy the Premium equipment line, which adds Keyless-Go package; Burmester surround sound system; reversing camera; illuminated door sills with ‘AMG’ lettering; Parking Assist Parktronic; and Mirror package.
If safety is a priority for you – unlikely if you’re looking at this car – then you can pay £1,695 for the Driver Assistance pack. This offers features such as Blind Spot Assist; Lane Keeping Assist; Distance Pilot Distronic; and Pre-Safe.
If you’re looking for a bit more performance – that’s more likely – take a look at the AMG Dynamic Plus package, which is priced at £1,795. This adds dynamic engine and transmission mounts; firmer and specifically tuned suspension. AMG high performance ceramic brakes are optionally available for £5,995.
