It feels like forever that I – and every hot hatch enthusiast for that matter – have been waiting for the price to be revealed for the new Ford Fiesta ST. There have lots or rumours flying around, one of which even suggested that the starting price could be in the £22,000-£23,000 range – too much if you ask me.
Go on then, how much is it?
Yes, let’s not beat around the bush any more. The new Ford Fiesta will be available in three trim levels, ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3, much like the outgoing model. ST-1 starts at a competitive £18,995 and includes features such as selectable drive modes, flat-bottomed steering wheel, body-hugging Recaro seats and sports suspension as standard.
For £1,000 more you’ll get the ST-2, which is able to add to the ST-1 specification with features including climate control, heated front seats, blue seatbelts, B&O PLAY premium sound system and Ford SYNC3 DAB radio with a larger eight-inch touchscreen as standard.
That of course leaves the ST-3, which starts from £21,495, offering feaures such as sat nav, 18″ alloys with red brake calipers, utomatic rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror and driver assistance features including Traffic Sign Recognition, auto high beam and driver alert.
Performance Pack
For those looking for even more performance from their ST, be sure to check out the optional Performance Pack, which will cost an additional £850. This adds a Quaife limited slip diff for better cornering, launch control and performance shift lights. You’ll still get the same 1.5 litre three cylinder Ecoboost engine though, but considering it’s able to offer 197bhp, that will more than enough for most buyers.
Mind you, I’m sure it won’t be too long before Mountune is able to offer extra performance gains. If left in standard form though, you’ll be able to crack 62mph in 6.5 seconds and continue to a top speed of 144mph – not too shabby for a Fiesta, eh?
The new Ford Fiesta ST is available to order now – yes, right now! – and with prices starting from £18,995. The want is so real right now…
