The LA Auto Show isn’t due to start until tomorrow, but already, the new Range Rover SVAutobiography has been unveiled. It’s available with three powertrains, and will be ready to order as of tomorrow with prices starting from £167,850.

What does it have?

Luxury, lots of it. Although you can select a model with a thumping big 5.0 litre V8 petrol, you get a sense that the best seat in the house is to be found in the back, rather than sat in front the steering wheel. This is because in the rear you will find executive class rear seats that offer a colossal 1.2 metres of legroom, thanks to the cars extended wheelbase. The rear also features rear tables, making it the ideal – and plush – mobile office, and there are also 10″ touchscreens for when you’ve had enough of working.

A concealed fridge can also be found in the back, which is able to swallow up two wine bottles, or four 600ml bottles. The right-hand rear seat can fold to accommodate long items and customers can also specify something called a ‘Power Deployable Veneered Loadspace Floor’ for the first time, making loading and unloading luggage easier than ever.

There is a new, exclusive Zenith clock that features on the rear centre console, which is inspired by the Elite 6150 watch. Its knurled bezel complements the finish on the start/stop button, gear selector and pedals. The car itself is hand-finished by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team at the technical centre in Warwickshire.

What about those powertrains?

The new SVAutobiography will be available with either a 4.4 litre V8 diesel which offers 334bhp, a 2.0 litre petrol mated with a plug-in hybrid that offers 398bhp, and lastly, you have the aforementioned 5.0 litre V8 petrol, which churns out a healthy 557bhp. It almost goes without saying, but these engines will be mated to an automatic gearbox, with power going to all four wheels.

Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer, Land Rover, said: “The Range Rover SVAutobiography is the epitome of luxury, comfort and refinement. Our standard-bearer for quality and precision exemplifies the attention to detail and sophistication that has been a hallmark of our most luxurious SUV stretching back almost 50 years.”

The new Range Rover SVAutobiography is available to order as of tomorrow, with prices starting at £167,850.
