Jeep loves a special edition doesn’t it? It’s like Mazda with the MX-5 in that respect. This time though, it’s not a limited edition Grand Cherokee, but instead a Wrangler – yes that’s still made.
Night Eagle
Like most of the other Jeep special editions, this Wrangler has a pretty cool name. It’s called the Night Eagle, which I really like, but the purple colour is a bit, erm, bold. The American brand has described the colour as ‘striking’ and it’s not wrong there. It’s little wonder the colour itself is called ‘Xtreme Purple’. Thankfully, there is a choice of either a Alpine White or Solid Black finish if the Purple is bit too much for you.
The Night Eagle has more than just a bold colour though – the exterior features also include special decals, chunky 18″ wheels finished in mid-black as well as other black details. Inside the Night Eagle – I can’t stop saying that name – there are black McKinley leather seats with black sport mesh fabric inserts and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with Diesel Gray accent stitching.
It will be powered by a 2.8 litre diesel producing 200bhp and is mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. Standard kit includes a nine-speaker Alpine sound system with subwoofer, Uconnect infotainment system with navigation and CD player (is this the noughties?), plus there are the usual mod cons such as aux, USB, air con and so forth.
The Jeep Wrangler Night Eagle goes on sale this week with prices starting at £39,810.
