Mazda has announced changes for its new Mazda2 range which goes on sale from the 1st of June, with prices starting at £12,695. The GT and GT Sport models are a new addition, as is Mazda’s G-Vectoring system, which is available across the eight trim levels. Mazda has also brought in changes to make the car drive better and more refined.
GT and GT Sport Spearhead New Range
These two new trim levels help to spearhead the new Mazda2 range and will both be powered by the 1.5 litre SKYACTIV-G petrol. The power outputs will be different though – 89bhp is on offer in the GT whereas the GT Sport gets a slightly improved 113bhp. Lower end models on the other hand, make do with 74bhp. As the name suggests, both the GT and GT Sport models are designed to give a sportier look – standout features are the black rear spoiler, 16″ silver alloy wheels and LED headlights with LED daytime running lights.
These models are also available in two exclusive colours – Deep Crimson Mica and Eternal Blue Mica, which are both complimented by black leather seats in the cabin. Other features inside include a head-up display, scuff plates, plus the GT Sport receives a reversing camera. The inside should be a more comfortable place too as Mazda has been hard work to improve the refinement of the new Mazda2.
More Refined, Better To Drive
As well as adding the GT and GT Sport models to the new Mazda2 range, refinement has been addressed and G-Vectoring is now in place to improve cars performance through corners. The steering has also been tweaked to give better response, plus a new steering wheel can now be found in the Mazda2 range. The suspension has been refined to give a better ride and higher level of comfort.
The inside should also be a quieter place to be, thanks to a noise insulating and better sound proofing under the bonnet. Areas such as the boot and the parcel shelf have also been given better soon absorbing materials to better aid refinement. New seat fabrics have been installed to the Mazda2, plus the door mirror have been revised and now feature wraparound indicators.
The new Mazda2 goes on sale from the 1st of June with prices starting at £12,695.
