For those of you who are unfamiliar with Datsun, it’s what Nissan used to be called back in the day. Some good cars were made back then as well, cars such as the 260Z, a car that is now available to buy at Classic Car Auctions’ September sale.
This 1978 Datsun 260Z comes in right-hand drive with low mileage – just 8,285 miles have been put on the clock. The main reason for this is because this Japanese coupe has spent 21 years in storage. 21 years! That’s almost as long as I’ve been alive! The car has had two owners since March ’78 and the second owner put the car in to storage in 1995 after a change in circumstances.
Offered in Copper Bronze Metallic the 260Z has a 2.6 litre engine which is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. 162bhp is produced from the 260Z which translates to a 0-60 time of 8.0 seconds and a top speed of 127mph. What’s the price for his Japanese retro-ness? The estimate for this rare Datsun is £18,000 to £22,000.
“This car is an unrepeatable opportunity to own what could be one of the lowest mileage ‘Z’ cars in existence”, explains Guy Lees-Milne, auction manager of CCA. “This fantastic car is a rare find ready for recommissioning or preserving, and will make for a very rewarding and straightforward project for the winning bidder.”
The 260Z will go under the hammer on the 24th of September at the CCA auction taking place at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
