The Greatest Vehicles In Cinema History

In June 2019, we did a page on which of the best movie cars would win in a race, now this post is in a similar vein but with the recent news that a functional Batmobile is going up for sale, this feels like the perfect chance to talk about the best vehicles in movie history.

Now, the criteria for this is going to be quite strict as we need to keep the lost as human as possible. The criteria for these vehicles are: They must be drivable on land, they must be considered iconic and they must be fun. Now this rules out things like the brooms from Harry Potter and, more controversially, rules out the Aston Martin that is iconic because of James Bond.

As much as the car is stunning, we want to make this loss more exciting, similarly to online betting UK, we want to show more options and not use the typical standard answer that is the Aston Martin.

Greased Lightning – Grease

The 1948 Ford De Luxe gained immense popularity and became iconic because of the 1978 musical Grease. The car is the crux of the film and the big ballad that Danny Zuko sings is about the systematic, hydromatic, ultra-matic Greased Lightning!

The look of the car was a huge reason for its success, with the striking red paint and white flashes that cover the car, making it one of the iconic cars for a reason. But, it isn’t just that, Greased Lightning is one of the few iconic cars that get its own theme song and it might be the best one of the lot.

The Prize Ferrari – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

When it comes to meaning in a film, there really aren’t many that mean as much as The Ferrari in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. In the iconic John Hughes-written and directed film, Ferris pretends to be sick to spend the day with his girlfriend, Sloane, and his best friend Cameron while his school Dean tries to prove that his sickness is fake.

This film is iconic and the Ferrari adds to this massively. The car is the prized possession of Cameron’s dad, it’s clear throughout the film that Cameron is neglected by his dad and the Ferrari clearly means more to his dad than he does. The Ferrari is used throughout the film as a metaphor for the lofty expectations that parents put on their kids and it is shown perfectly.

Unlike most cars in movies, this car carries a huge weight behind it and isn’t just used as a flashy vehicle for the lead character. This film is hugely iconic and without this car, it wouldn’t have the same effect.

Batmobile – Batman

This page idea started with the auctioning of The Tumbler Batmobiles from The Dark Knight, so not mentioning this iconic vehicle would be a huge misstep on our part. There have been many iterations of the Batmobile over the decades and the Tumbler is one of the best.

The Batmobile is used heavily throughout the film and is almost a tank in the way it runs and the way Batman uses it. It has wrecking balls for wheels and allows Batman to be as stealthy as he needs to be while being able to go through buildings with no worry.

Now onto the most recent iteration of the Batmobile, in 2022, the release of Matt Reeves ‘The Batman’ saw a new version of the iconic car get revealed. Matt Reeves’s take on The Batman is to make the world feel as real as possible. This includes the look of the suit and the Batmobile.

With this version of Batman being only two years into his Batman project, a lot of his gear isn’t up to the level of Nolan’s Batman who was a veteran. The use of the Batmobile was limited in the film but gave us the best use of the Batmobile in a Batman film in which Batman chases Penguin. An already iconic car even with its very limited screen time.
