The SEAT Ateca has been a very popular model for the Spanish brand, not bad for a brand that’s never made an SUV before. Yes, I know, SEAT has the full backing of the vast and experienced Volkswagen Automotive Group, but you get my point. Anyway, that aside, SEAT is hoping to build on the mid-size SUV’s appeal with a new version – the Ateca FR Black Edition.
It’s based on the FR Sport, meaning it offers full LED headlights, digital cockpit, navigation, SEAT drive control and sport seats, to name a few. The FR Black Edition, which is priced from £28,845 – £100 more than FR Sport – adds features such as gloss black door mirrors, window and grille surrounds, plus black roof rails and 19″ alloys finished in, oh yeah, black.
Inside the cabin you’ll find black leather seats to keep the black theme going. Speaking of seats, the FR Black Edition comes standard with the Winter Pack, meaning the car gets heated front seats, heated headlight washers for the headlights, and a water wash level indicator.
In regard to engines, it’s available with a choice of two petrol engines, and a diesel. The petrol lineup is made up of a 1.5 litre unit, or a 2.0 litre variant, the latter of which utilises SEAT’s 4Drive all wheel drive system. The diesel engine is a 2.0 litre unit, which like the petrol offerings, is turbocharged. Depending on which engine you go for, there’s a choice of either a 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed DSG.
The new SEAT Atecea FR Black Edition is available to order, starting from £28,845.
