French car brand DS has announced a new trim to feature on all of its models which has been inspired by the spirit of the GT. The new trim level is called Performance Line which will be available to select on every DS model from October.
So what’s it all about?
Well this is what Éric Apode, DS Vice President for Products and Business Development says about the new trim; “The ‘DS Performance Line’ offers all the fundamental ingredients of a Grand Tourer, namely style and driving pleasure.” Put in simpler terms, what the new trim will offer will a contrasting black roof (excluding DS3 Cabrio) no matter which colour you choose as well as DS Performance Line badges and DS Performance colour-coded (Carmine Red, White and Gold) door mirrors and rear spoiler.

Yeah that may not seem like much but rest assured, there is more – new style upholstery features in the model which comes in black cloth although leather is also an option. Metallic detailing will be also be found inside the cabin including chrome inserts on the steering wheel and door sill protectors.
So what about performance?
Erm, erm, there doesn’t appear to be anything major in regards to performance which is kinda awkward – I was expecting this trim to be some kind of warm/hot hatch variant but it appears not. It is worth mentioning that this trim has been designed to be stylish and comfortable as opposed shattering times at your local race track which is just as well really.
In terms of engines there will be a choice of BlueHDi diesel engines as well as PureTech and THP petrol engines. Those looking for power are best served by going for the THP 210 as that offers the most power but even that will not set the world alight.
The new Performance Line is available to buy in the UK from the 1st of October and will be available on the DS3, DS3 Cabrio, DS4 and DS5.
